Constipation is a common digestive disorder and it affects people of all ages (infant, small kids, teens, younger, adults and old people) and can be cure effectively by using simple natural home remedies. Constipation is a condition in which a person finds difficulty passing stools and may even lead an individual to strain too much to drain the excessively hard stools. Normally an individual one bowel movement is necessary per day for good health.

Lemon 

Lemon juice increases body’s alkaline levels and enhance digestion. Lemon juice stimulates our digestive system quickly and gets things moving. Consumption of lemon juice is one of the easiest, economical, highly effective and tested traditional treatments for constipation in all age groups.


1. Warm Lemon water

Add 1-2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to glass of warm water, also add 1 tablespoon of honey to it, mix well and drink on empty stomach in the morning.


2. Lemon with rock salt

Add 1-2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice with glass of warm water, add pinch of rock salt or plain salt to it and drink this mixture before meal. Follow this 2-4 times a day. This helps to alleviate constipation.

For infant and small kids

For infant and small kids add 1-2 teaspoon of lemon juice with cup of warm water and also add 1-2 teaspoon of raw honey. Try to avoid salt in it. Follow this 2-3 times a day.


4. Lemon Tea

Add 2-3 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in your regular tea, especially black tea or ginger tea or herbal tea, also add 1 tablespoon of honey in it instead of sugar.


5. Curd and Lemon

Take 1 small or medium size bowl of curd and add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in it along with ½ tablespoon of powdered black pepper. Mix well and consume this. Follow this 2-3 times a day. It helps to alleviate constipation.


Figs

Fig is rich source of anti-oxidants, vitamins, calcium, minerals and fiber; it acts as a natural laxative. You can use both fresh and dried figs to cure constipation. When you are using fresh figs, do not throw their skin, as skin contains most of the fiber and calcium than inner pulp.

6. Figs on empty stomach

Eat 2-3 fresh or dried figs in the morning on an empty stomach, eating figs on an empty stomach cures chronic constipation.




7. Figs with Almonds

Soak 2-3 figs and 2 almonds in the bowl of water for 1-2 hours or overnight. Then peel the almonds (do not peel the figs) and make paste of both by crushing or grinding them. Add 1 tablespoon of honey in this paste, and consume it. Do this twice a day for fast relief from constipation.



8. Boiled Figs water

Boil 5-6 figs in the glass of water for 10 minutes on slow flame, and drink this warm water and eat the figs before going to bed. This is a tested outstanding home remedy for constipation.


9. Figs with apricots, prune, lemon

You can also make juice of figs, apricots and prune, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and pinch of rock salt or table salt or ½ teaspoon of powdered black pepper in it. Consume the juice 2-3 times a day.



Flax Seed

Flax seed contains antioxidants, nutrients, omega-3 fatty acids, minerals, oil, fiber and essential vitamins. Commonly used laxatives in curing constipation include flaxseed, barley, and fenugreek. 

For curing constipation, use flax seeds and not flax seed oil. Flax seed is great laxative can be use in mild and severe constipation.



10. Soaked flax seeds

1.      Soak 1-2 tablespoon of flax seeds in glass of water for 2-3 hours, then crush the seeds in this water, strain the water and drink before going to bed. You will notice that your bowel movement is smooth and much better than before. Try this.

2.      Alternatively, just chew and eat 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed with a glass of warm water before going to bed.


11. Flax seed with Apple cider vinegar

Boil 2 tablespoon of flax seeds in glass of water and boil until the flax seeds will become jelly like. Let it cool down. Then add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to it. Drink this water in the morning on an empty stomach.


12. Flax seed with Warm water

You can also chew and eat 1 tablespoon of flax seeds with glass of warm water, 3 times a day.


13. Flax seed and Oat bran

Soak 1-2 tablespoon of flax seeds and 2 tablespoon of oat bran in 2 cup of water, leave it overnight. In the morning drink this water and eat flax seeds and oat bran 30-45 minutes before your breakfast.



14. Flax seed with meal

Boil 2-3 tablespoon of flax seeds in cup of water and sprinkle over your regular meal. For infant and small kids, sprinkle 1 teaspoon over their meal.


15. Apple cider vinegar

1.      Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of honey, mix well and consume this mixture 3 times a day. This mixture makes your bowels active and smooth again in no time. Try this.

2.      Consume 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with glass of warm water 2-3 times a day to get rid of constipation.



16. Baking soda

Baking soda works incredibly well for constipation and general stomach aches as it is a bicarbonate, which encourages gas to come out and relieves pain from pressure. Baking soda also re-alkalizes the stomach, neutralizes the acid and helping things pass out.

Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with cup of warm water. Drink the mixture quickly, because the quicker you finish it, the faster it seems to work.

For baby

Give your baby a relaxing and warm water bath. Add 2-3 tablespoon of baking soda to the warm water and let your baby soak in this water for 5-10 minutes. It is an excellent baby constipation remedy.
